Head & Neck Measurements for Your Custom Look
Every detail matters — from the way your veil sits to how your neckline flows. Taking accurate head and neck measurements ensures that your final look feels as beautiful as it looks.
✨ Head Circumference
Gently measure around the fullest part of your head — above the eyebrows and over the ears — to ensure your veil or headpiece rests perfectly in place.
✨ Neck Circumference
Measure softly around the base of your neck. This is essential for high-neck gowns, elegant chokers, or custom accessories that complete your bridal vision.
How to Measure for a Perfect Fit
Bust
Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust. Make sure the tape is straight across your back and lies flat, not twisted. Keep your arms relaxed at your sides, and don't pull the tape too tight — it should sit snug but comfortable.
Waist
Find your natural waistline — usually the narrowest part of your torso, just above your belly button. Stand up straight, breathe normally, and wrap the tape around without sucking in your stomach. Keep it snug, not tight.
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks. This is usually about 7–9 inches (18–23 cm) below your waist. Stand with your feet together and ensure the tape stays level all the way around
How to Measure from Underarm to Floor
This measurement is essential for strapless or sleeveless gowns to ensure the perfect floor-length fit.
You will need:
– A measuring tape
– A letter-size sheet of paper (8.5x11 inches)
– A second person to assist (recommended)
Steps:
1. Stand straight with your arms resting naturally at your sides. Wear the shoes (or similar height) you plan to wear with the dress.
2. Place the sheet of paper vertically under your arm, flat against your body. The top edge should touch your underarm (armpit), acting as a gentle support point.
3. Hold the paper in place, and have your helper measure from the top edge of the paper (underarm level) straight down to the floor, following the side of your body.
4. Make sure the tape stays vertical and not slanted. Record the measurement to the nearest inch.
✅ Tip: Measure on bare feet first, then with shoes — or add heel height afterward.
How to Measure Shoulder Width and Arm Length
1. Shoulder Width (Shoulder to Shoulder)
Purpose: Ensures your dress or top fits properly across the back and shoulders.
How to measure:
Stand straight and relaxed.
Ask someone to help.
Place the measuring tape from the edge of one shoulder (where the arm meets the shoulder) across the back to the same point on the other shoulder.
Keep the tape flat and straight across the top of the back — do not curve it down.
2. Arm Length (Sleeve Length)
Purpose: Needed for dresses or gowns with sleeves (short, ¾, or long).
How to measure:
Let your arm hang naturally at your side.
Measure from the edge of the shoulder (same point as above) down along the outside of the arm, over the elbow, and to the wrist bone (or desired sleeve length).
For longer sleeves, measure to the base of the thumb or fingertip depending on style.
✅ Pro Tip: Keep the arm slightly bent at the elbow for more comfort if the sleeve will follow arm curvature.
